MangaGamer’s release of Soul Link got me playing the game again, and I realized I did find some of the music in the game really nice. Hence, I decided to do a medley arrangement, so please check out ARIES 404.

Thanks to that Bad Apple!! Shadow Play video, I ended up buying Alstroemeria Records’ compilation album, Exserens. (Lovelight was too expensive) It also got me interested in making my own fan creation based off that PV, and even though it was probably already done by someone else already, I still felt like doing one for the heck of it: Orchard View
I finally finished my latest song, “oneesama e“, which happens to be an arrangement featuring the big sister characters from the Touhou series of shoot ‘em ups. Mikanya’s AstCd2 also drew some artwork for me, so I’ve combined that with my song and uploaded the result to Nico Nico Douga as well: nm8728469. Please have a listen if you’re interested.
Speaking of shuffle, the last two songs I made were both made using the Shuffle parameter in Reason’s ReGroove Mixer, something I learned recently. Shuffle basically twiddles the timing of sixteenth notes a bit to add a “swing groove” feel to the rhythm. To demonstrate, here’s a segment of Five Flowers with various shuffle settings…
SHUFFLE: 57 (This is the normal level of shuffle, as in the final release)
SHUFFLE: 50 (This is essentially without shuffle)
SHUFFLE: 67 (You can really hear the swing groove rhythm here)
SHUFFLE: 75 (Everything kind of falls apart here)
